TPEE Elastomer Filament
Thermoplastic elastomer filament
Choose TPEE Elastomer Filament based on its stiffness, recovery, wear, wet-service, chemical, and temperature behavior. Material name alone is not enough to set stiffness; we also need filament diameter, free trim, density, grade, and working conditions.

Datasheet values
- Filament diameter
- Set by supplier capability and required flexibility

TPEE Elastomer Filament is used as brush fill or contact media where its property profile fits the cleaning duty.
What is TPEE Elastomer Filament, and what makes it different from other brush filaments?
TPEE Elastomer Filament sits in the thermoplastic elastomer family, supplied as filament, strip fill, roller fill and molded blade or foam pad as applicable, drawn in round, rectangular, star-shaped and hollow sections and set in straight rows, helical, staggered, zoned and wavy fill patterns.
TPEE Elastomer Filament is a custom brush contact material selected by filament or blade geometry, temperature, moisture, chemicals and surface risk.
Change material when temperature, chemicals, static, shedding or surface marking becomes limiting.
What stiffness and contact pressure can I expect from TPEE Elastomer Filament?
TPEE Elastomer Filament is shore D 35–72 (Grade Range). It Brush behavior follows High Flexibility flexibility and Shore D 35–72 (Grade Range) hardness.
The part people get wrong: the number that decides scrubbing pressure is diameter over trim length, not the grade name. Two brushes in this material can behave nothing alike.
How does water affect TPEE Elastomer Filament performance?
TPEE Elastomer Filament takes up 0.20–0.80% (24h, ISO 62/ASTM D570).
Grade dependent. Representative Hytrel grades publish different 24-hour water-absorption values, so confirm the selected grade and test method.
What this means for your application: moisture uptake is low enough to ignore in service, which is why this grade holds its stiffness through washdown.
A practical check: run one wet cycle and compare tip contact against the dry state. If the wet brush leaves residue behind or no longer reaches the bottom of the bore, change the material rather than the geometry.
What temperature limits apply to TPEE Elastomer Filament?
TPEE temperature capability varies substantially by grade and hardness. Do not use one continuous/peak range for every TPEE filament; use the selected grade TDS and validate the finished brush assembly.
The filament tables quote 100–120°C continuous and 130–150°C peak. The tighter number above is the one to build to, because a brush is loaded while it is hot.
Where it stops working: validate with a sample if the process sits near the top of that band. A permanent bend under load means the answer is a higher-temperature filament family, not a heavier trim.
Diameter, trim length and applied load all shift the real limit, so a thin filament touching lightly survives conditions that would flatten a thick one under pressure.
What chemicals attack TPEE Elastomer Filament?
Grade dependent; check the exact chemical, concentration, temperature, exposure time and mechanical load against the selected TPEE grade.
Compatibility is a function of concentration, temperature and contact time together. A short rinse in a dilute solution is a different exposure from an overnight soak in a concentrated one, even with the same chemical on the label.
Before you commit to a quantity: Use resin or alloy grade TDS, ISO/ASTM property method and lot traceability when specified.
What is the practical lower limit for filament diameter?
The floor is roughly 0.10 mm; finer than that and the filament snaps rather than flexes. In practice you are choosing inside 0.10–3.00 mm.
Free trim runs 5–300 mm, and the two interact: a finer filament needs a shorter trim to keep useful stiffness, while a thicker one carries a longer trim and still lands pressure on the tip.
Split the range by duty: roughly 0.10–0.82 mm for light wiping, dusting and surfaces that mark easily, and 0.82–3.00 mm where residue is packed on and point pressure matters more than surface risk.
Tip treatments available on this filament: end rounding, silicone-oil coating, anti-static coating and antibacterial coating.
In practical brush terms: reaching deep into a bore or crevice is a diameter problem before it is a length problem. A thicker filament on a moderate trim pushes further in before the tips fold over.
What applications typically use TPEE Elastomer Filament?
Custom cleaning brushes requiring TPEE Filament for its mechanical, temperature, moisture or chemical behavior.
The cleaning work it is specified for most often:
- Laboratory Tube Cleaning
- CPAP Hose Cleaning
- Household Dish, Teapot & Kitchen Detail Cleaning
- Beverage Equipment Cleaning
- Food Equipment Cleaning
- Tube & Pipe Cleaning
Brush types built with this fill:
- Custom Handheld Detail Brushes
- Custom Tube & Pipe Bore Brushes
- Custom Roller and Conveyor Brushes
- Custom Strip Seal Brushes
- Custom Floor Scrubber Sweeper Brushes
If the sample comes back rejected: Performance depends on the selected TPEE grade, hardness, filament diameter, trim, density, chemical exposure and operating temperature.
How do I specify TPEE Elastomer Filament for a custom brush?
Send the brush type, filament diameter, free trim length, density, contact setting, wet or dry duty, working temperature and the actual cleaning chemistry together. Any one of them on its own leaves the stiffness undefined.
What usually goes wrong at this step:
- Selecting only by material name without defining diameter, trim, density, engagement and operating conditions

Questions this page is asked
How should flex-fatigue be qualified for a TPEE brush?
Cycle the actual filament radius, free trim, deflection and frequency through the required minimum and maximum temperatures and any wet or chemical exposure, including dwell and recovery periods. Track contact force, permanent set, hysteresis, cracks, surface change and breakage, then set life from the first process-critical drift rather than from an unrelated molded-part fatigue claim.
What makes a TPEE fluid-compatibility result relevant to brushing?
The result must identify the grade, fluid composition, concentration, temperature, exposure time, mechanical strain, rinse and drying sequence and the measured property after exposure. Approve the brush only when dimensions, mass, hardness, force, recovery, surface condition and anchor integrity remain within limits under that combined process cycle.
