When should you choose this brush type?
Choose a spring brush when the brush body needs to bend, compress, or recover while following a pipe, duct, tube, or irregular path. A conventional tube or bore brush is simpler when the passage is straight enough for a rigid or flexible stem and does not need the extra compliance of a spring-supported body.
What are Spring Brushes?
Spring brushes use a helical or spring-supported core to carry filament while allowing the assembly to bend, compress, or recover. They are useful in pipes, heat-exchanger tubes, flexible ducts, and equipment paths where a rigid stem cannot follow the geometry.
Spring diameter, free length, wire section, brush outside diameter, trim, end connection, and minimum bend radius determine reach and contact. The spring must be flexible enough to follow the path but stiff enough to transmit the push, pull, or reciprocating motion without buckling.

What controls a powered spring brush through bends and diameter changes?
Establish speed, feed, stroke, rotation direction and torque or current limits on a representative path using the exact brush and drive. Stop for a sudden load rise, torsional wind-up, unstable whipping or loss of retrieval movement, and never use added drive force to push through an unidentified obstruction.
Which signs indicate spring-brush fatigue or chemical damage?
Compare free length, straightness, pitch, coupling position and brush profile with the accepted pre-use condition, and inspect for kinks, cracks, corrosion, pitting, loosened fill or permanent twist. Retire a changed component and recheck material compatibility if damage follows exposure to a cleaner, temperature or dwell condition not already qualified for the exact spring alloy and construction.
