A twisted-wire drain and sewer pipe brush with a 50 mm bristle face and PA66 nylon fill, built to scrub sludge, grease, hair, and biofilm from the inside wall of nominal 2-inch drain lines, traps, and sewer passages. The continuous stainless steel twisted-wire stem carries the brush head deep into the line, and the optional PP overmold grip keeps hand operation controlled.
What can this brush do for you?
Full-circumference contact inside a 2-inch line
The 50 mm bristle tip diameter is matched to nominal DN50 / 2-inch pipe internal diameters. As the brush moves, the bristles press against the pipe wall around the full circumference, so one push-pull-and-rotate pass cleans the crown, invert, and sidewall instead of leaving an untouched strip at the bottom of the line.
PA66 fill disturbs sludge and grease without metal-on-pipe contact
PA66 nylon monofilament is stiff enough to break up grease film, sludge, hair mats, and biofilm, but it will not gouge PVC, ABS, cast iron, or copper drain walls under normal hand pressure. Metal filament brushes can scratch or spark; this fill provides a non-metallic scrub for lines where that matters.
Twisted-wire stem follows traps and gradual bends
The continuous double-wire stem holds the head in line while allowing enough flex to work through a P-trap, floor-drain elbow, or gradual sewer bend. It transmits push-pull force without kinking the way a plain rod handle does.
180 mm head length covers more pipe per stroke
The long bristle section contacts a broad band of pipe at once, so the operator needs fewer passes to cover a drain run. The same length also retains more loosened sludge when the brush is withdrawn from the line.
Materials that stay functional in wet wastewater service
PA66 bristles tolerate the oils, detergents, and wastewater found in drain lines, and the stainless steel stem resists corrosion from repeated wet use and exposure to standing water. Normal rinse-and-dry between jobs is enough to keep the brush in working condition.
Optional overmold grip keeps hands clear of the waste stream
The 18 mm PP grip section provides a non-slip hold and helps keep the operator’s hand away from sewer water and chemical residue. When the overmold is not required, the twisted wire can be formed into a loop or left plain for a project-specific end fitting.
What is a 50mm PA66 Drain Pipe Brush?
A 50mm PA66 drain pipe brush is a hand-guided twisted-in-wire brush used to scrub the inside wall of drain and sewer lines around 50 mm internal diameter. PA66 nylon monofilament is trapped between two twisted stainless steel wires, forming a round bristle face at the working end. The same wires continue as the stem, so the brush head and stem are one continuous unit without a glued or screwed joint that could fail in a wet drain.
In use, the operator inserts the brush through a cleanout, floor drain, sink outlet, or disconnected trap, then pushes, pulls, and rotates the handle. The 50 mm bristle span contacts the pipe wall, and the 180 mm head length works the contact zone along a section of drain. The standard configuration is for manual push-pull-and-rotate operation; if power rotation is planned, the stem and attachment need to be specified for that duty.
This brush removes loose and attached residue — sludge, grease, hair, biofilm, and soft mineral deposits. It is not a tool for roots, hardened scale, or cemented blockages, and it does not replace an auger or jetting unit when a line is fully blocked.

Where does this brush work best?
- Kitchen sink and foodservice drain lines where grease, food sludge, and detergent film collect in 45–55 mm branch runs and tailpieces.
- Floor drains and shower drains in 2-inch lines where hair and soap sludge settle in the trap and downstream pipe wall.
- Sewer lateral cleanouts on residential and light commercial lines with a 50 mm access opening.
- P-traps, elbows, and joints where residue settles at the bottom and shoulder of the pipe instead of along the straight section.
- Utility and process drains that collect biofilm and sludge but do not carry hard scale or abrasive media.
How do I choose the right one?
Confirm the actual pipe ID first
Measure the narrowest internal diameter in the drain run — at the trap, fitting, or joint, not just the straight pipe. A 50 mm bristle face works best in 45–55 mm IDs. Below about 45 mm the brush binds or the bristles fold; above about 55 mm it loses full wall contact and leaves residue at the bottom.
Match the bristle material to the residue and pipe surface
PA66 is the right middle ground for grease, sludge, hair, and biofilm on PVC, ABS, cast iron, or copper. Choose a softer PP or PET fill for very thin or lined pipes where scratch risk must be minimized. Choose abrasive nylon or steel fill only when hard mineral scale, corrosion product, or paint must be broken up, because those fills also remove more pipe surface.
Check the bend geometry
The continuous twisted-wire stem passes through ordinary traps and gradual bends, but a short-radius 90-degree elbow can jam a 180 mm head. If the line has multiple tight fittings, specify a shorter head length, a smaller wire diameter for more flex, or a sectional rod setup instead.
Decide how the brush will be driven
The standard configuration is for manual push-pull-and-rotate use. If the brush will be chucked into a drill or attached to a drain machine, the wire diameter, stem length, and end fitting need to be engineered for the rotational speed and torque of that machine. A standard hand brush is not a power-tool accessory.
Verify the chemical and temperature conditions
PA66 and stainless steel handle common detergents and neutral-to-alkaline drain cleaners at ambient drain temperatures. Strong concentrated acids, oxidizers, or hot media can attack nylon, so provide the chemical and temperature information before confirming the material grade.
| Condition | Recommended configuration |
|---|---|
| 45–55 mm ID with sludge, grease, or hair | 50 mm PA66, medium-firm fill, 180 mm head |
| Tight bends or small cleanout openings | Shorter head length or smaller stem wire diameter |
| Hard mineral scale or heavy corrosion | Abrasive-fill or steel-wire brush, not PA66 |
| Machine-driven rotation | Reinforced stem and project-specific drive fitting |
Use a different tool when the line is fully blocked, the deposit is hard scale or root intrusion, or the pipe ID is far outside 45–55 mm. An auger, hydro jetter, or steel-wire brush is the better choice in those cases.
Can I customize this brush?
The 50 mm PA66 drain pipe brush is configurable for the actual drain system. To quote a custom version, provide the minimum pipe ID, bend radii, access point size, required reach, residue type, cleaning chemical, and whether the brush will be hand- or machine-driven. A drawing or photo of the drain fitting helps.
- Brush geometry — diameter from about 40 mm to 60 mm or as required, head length, trim profile, end shape, and fill density.
- Bristle material and stiffness — PA66 in multiple gauges and colors, or switch to PP, PBT, PET, or abrasive nylon when the residue or surface demands different contact.
- Stem — stainless steel wire diameter, length, single or double stem, galvanized core, or plastic-sheathed stem for chemical isolation.
- Handle and end feature — PP overmold, bare loop, T-handle, square or hex tang, threaded end, or a formed hook for hanging.
- Connection — the standard is a fixed continuous stem; we can add a ferrule, shrink tube, coupling, or break joint when the cleaning process requires it.
- Marking and packaging — color coding, pad-printed identification, custom label, bulk pack, individual bag, or retail card.
If your project requires material declarations, inspection records, third-party testing, or documentation support, share those requirements during the customization discussion so we can align the production and quality plan with your project.
How do you confirm a 50mm PA66 drain pipe brush has actually cleaned the surface?
Will the brush clear a completely blocked drain?
It will loosen and remove sludge, grease, hair, and biofilm from the pipe wall, but a fully plugged line still needs an auger or jetting unit to open flow. Use the brush after the blockage is broken through, or as a preventive maintenance pass on a slow drain.
How do I check whether the 50 mm brush actually contacts the pipe wall?
Insert the head into a clean, dry section of the same pipe size and rotate it lightly. You should feel a uniform light drag all the way around. If the brush spins freely without touching the wall, the pipe ID is too large for this brush. If it is hard to push or the bristles fold over, the pipe ID is too small or the bristles are too stiff for the application.
Can I use this brush with chemical drain cleaners?
PA66 nylon and stainless steel tolerate many common detergents and neutral-to-alkaline cleaners at ambient drain temperatures. Strong concentrated acids or oxidizers can attack nylon, so check the chemical formulation or share the product you plan to use. Rinse the brush with water after chemical exposure regardless of the cleaner type.
What should I inspect before each use?
Check that the bristles are still captured in the twisted wire, that the stem is straight and free of broken strands, and that the handle or grip is secure. Remove any loose bristles or trapped debris left from the previous job. A brush with folded or permanently bent bristles should be replaced because it will not contact the full pipe circumference.
How should the brush be cleaned and stored after use?
Rinse the brush with water, pull out hair and sludge trapped in the fill, and hang it to dry. Do not leave it submerged in standing chemical or wet sludge between jobs. Drying also prevents odor and keeps the stainless stem from developing surface staining over time.
When would a steel wire brush be better than this PA66 brush?
Use a steel wire or abrasive-filled brush when the deposit is hard mineral scale, corrosion tuberculation, paint, or dried mortar. PA66 is designed for sludge, grease, hair, and biofilm; it will not efficiently cut hard crystalline deposits, and forcing it to do so will shorten brush life without improving results.
